My Theology, Worldview, Philosophy and Bible Studies

Picture
This site is a reflection of my beliefs in a Sovereign God, and is an attempt to solidify some of the Biblical teachings which have been important in my life.  You need to know, however, that I teach the Bible in a somewhat dogmatic fashion.  I see it as the source of God's truth, the inerrant revelation of His mind to man, and because I see it this way, my thoughts are colored.  They are shaded with the underlying concept that because He is God, He knew exactly how to say what He wanted to say. And He said it.  We cannot change anything he said, to make it fit what we would like it to say.  Instead, we must let it alone, and believe it just the way it is.

This is why my teachings are dogmatic.  They are based on black and white. They are based on the notion that God has perfect mastery over the English Language, and over every other language that has ever existed, and He chose His words carefully, so that they say exactly and precisely what He meant to say.  God speaks perfectly, and absolutely, in the Bible.  So we must reflect that in our own teachings which are derived from it.  We are expected (especially those of us who are called to the ministry) to speak the truth as it was written, and to never alter it, or diminish it's authoritative meaning, because to do so robs it of it's life, light and power.

I cannot apologize for seeing the truth the way that I see it.  You may not see it the same way, but I am not overly concerned about that.  When God is ready for you to see, He will open your eyes.  If you are a Christian, you too have the Holy Spirit as your guide and teacher.  He knows how to do what He does.  He knows how to guide His people into all truth, and to bring to remembrance all things concerning Christ.  You do not have to give the Holy Spirit permission to be God.  He is, and therefore He does.

I see the Sovereignty of God as a primary doctrine, not a secondary one.  Not only is He Sovereign over the universe, He is also Sovereign over His thoughts about it.  He is not suprised by anything, especially by anything that we could ever do or think.  While He is touched with the feeling of our infirmities, He is never overcome by them, perplexed by them, or submissive to them. Nor do they change Him in any way.  He remains sovereign. No matter what happens to us, nothing happens to Him. He is.

God is unchanging and unchangeable.  Our prayers do not change Him.  Our efforts do not phase Him.  Our churches do not contribute anything to Him. Our money cannot buy Him. Our thoughts cannot comprehend Him.  He needs nothing, because He is everything.  Everything that we are, adds up to zero.  We are but the dust on a balance. Everything that He is, adds up to everything.  He is all in all. So the course of everything is explained by His thought about it. What He thinks, will be.  What He says, is.  What He does, happens.  He does what He does, because He is what He is, and nothing or nobody can change anything.  This is predestination.

Fatalism is different than this.  It destroys the reality of everything, because it controls nothing.  It is a blind chance.  A self-happening.  An accidental fortuitousness.  A chaotic happen stance.  Luck.  Chance. A blind driving force without purpose or reason.  Christians who understand the Sovereignty of God, also understand the futility of the world's fatalism.  To them, if it happens, it happens.  To us, if it happens, it is Him.  It is Him ruling in a universe which always bends to His every desire.  It is Him, over-Lording every particle, every atom, every electron, every proton, every energy, every dimension.  It is Him.  All of it, when He moves, bows before the dynasty of His infinte power.

I hope you spend some time on the site and take advantage of the array of free resources and writings that I have here compiled.  Most of the longer articles are in PDF format, but I have tried to make available a good amount of material in plain text format so you can read online, and use our scripture pop-up tool, to instantly look up the related verses and passages.  The pop-up tool does not work on the PDF documents.

My Ministries and Services

I am an ordained Reformed Baptist minister, but I tend to think of myself more as non-denominational, because I have preached in churches of all different affiliations and associations. I have written several books and numerous articles. I preach in churches all over New England as a pulpit supply minister, and I also do week long seminars and special events.  I am becoming increasingly known as a wedding minister, that's why there is a page about weddings on this site.  I am licensed and ordained to perform weddings in all of the North Eastern States, and my rates are very reasonable.   If you would like to book me for a wedding, or as a speaker in your church you can e-mail me at Earl@RevEarlJackson.com
