True Patriotism
This letter by John Newton describes what true Patriotism really is. In our day radical extremists are trying to re-define patriotism to fit a particular political party, or a particular agenda. This is often accompanied by hatred of those who don't share their narrow-minded or bigoted viewpoints. Sometimes this hatred is so intense that they form militia's or other hate groups to express their violent but "free speech".
Surprisingly some of these "hatefuls" are Christian evangelicals. Apparently they see no contradiction between hating those who disagree, and the Bible's command to "love all men" (1Thess. 3:12). Biblically speaking, however, all forms of hatred of men, is contradictory of Christ, and is disobedience to God. Political hatred is no exception. When you hate others, whoever they are, you are showing rebellion against God, and rebellion against His constituted authorities. "Honor the king" (1Pet. 2:17), and "Pray for the king" (1Tim. 2:1-2), leaves no room for disrespecting any president, showing hatred and animosity, and stirring up treason and rebellion. CLICK HERE |

| Does This Cross Disturb You?
It should disturb you very much. It is what happens when nationalism overtakes the gospel. Well meaning people worshiping a flag and the country for which it stands rather than The Lord Jesus Christ. America has nothing to do with the Cross of Christ. Putting it above the cross tarnishes the gospel, confuses the message of redemption, and tarnishes the witness of countless Christians who are mislead to think that their country is God's country. America is a lost and pagan nation, as are all nations of this world. The only holy nation is God's nation...the church (1Pet. 2:9).

Gender Specific Truth- Why It is ImportantGender is an assignment By God. Jennifer, the author of this article, seeks to establish the important Biblical role that gender specific truth plays in God plan for both sexes. She does an excellent job of balancing Biblical truth with feminine and masculine patterns for worshiping God. Both sexes are designed to fulfill God's plan by obedience to His Lordship and Sovereign design. This is a beautiful post, and there are others like it on Jennifer's site. |
Gender Passages in the New Testament - A close look at some exegetical fallaciesThis was first published in the Westminster Theological Journal in 1994, but is very pertinent to the current discussion of the gender specific language of the Bible. As you are probably aware, the trend toward making God into " she", has progressed quite far in our day. Dynamic Equivalence Translations are notorious for this, and for removing distinctions between male and female terminology. This is one reason for rejecting most dynamic Equivalence translations. If you are unsure about these serious issues which undermine the authority of Scripture then you should study this excellent journal article. CLICK

Does Christianity Squash Women? by Rebecca Jones
This is a very professionally written article about women by a woman. When a man expresses the Biblical concepts taught so beautifully in this article, he is usually condemned as a chauvinist, who don't know the first thing about womanhood, or who don't really care about women. Fortunately the Bible exalts women and describes true womanhood in terms of a covenant relationship with God. This concept raises women from the puritanical image of female servitude to men, and sets all women on the highest and most noble of footings. Great article. Thanks Rebecca. CLICK

The Anabaptist Vision - A view of Church and State
This is a short analysis of what could really be termed as the historic Baptist view of Church and State. Note: Baptists historically have embraced the complete separation of church and state. It is disturbing to see so many Baptist political activists in our day. God calls us to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth, not to be involved in politics. Read this important study.
