Chic-Fil-A AYE!
a short commentary by Earl Jackson
Isa 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
I am writing this short article on August 1, 2012, the day that has been designated by certain concerned evangelicals, as a special day to stop by and eat at Chic-Fil-A, as a means of showing your support for them, and casting your vote of approval for the controversial stand their president has taken regarding traditional family values. Dan Cathy, the President of Chic-Fil-A, said the following during the course of an interview, and the LGBT gay agenda people picked up on it as an attack on gays. Here is what Cathy said when asked about the companies support for traditional marriage and family values... "Well, guilty as charged. We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that. We operate as a family business ... our restaurants are typically led by families; some are single. We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that. We intend to stay the course. " And then He added; "We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles."
The company is in fact noted for operating on Biblical principles. All it's stores are always closed on Sunday because that's still the Lord's day, even if every retail outfit in the world wants to disregard the Lord. At Chic-Fil-A they want to give honor to Christ, and not ignore what He says. In addition to that, the company aggressively and vocally admits to using Matthew 5:41 to go the second mile in customer service, because they feel that honors God as well.
At any rate the hate mongering intollerant's in the LGBT community threatened boycotts, demonstrations and even legal action against the chain and it's president claiming that this statement was anti-gay and discriminatory. Puritan Reformed over at Daniels Place Blog said it this way "Chick-Fill-A's president did not even mention homosexuality, although it certainly is implied. The reactions of the homosexuals have once again given proof of the fascist nature of the movement. The homofascists are all about silencing opposing opinions. They are manifestly intolerant of all other opinions and desire to control the thoughts of everyone. In their twisted and warped worldview, anyone who does not celebrate homosexuality is guilty of "hate crimes." I agree Daniel.
Now here is the deal as I see it. I could care less about the politics of left and right, liberal and conservative. I don't see where Christians are called to be politically involved with stuff like that. This however is about two things, both of which are moral issues
1. The right of Christians to defend the moral values of the Scriptures.
Homosexuality is a moral issue, not a political one. The gays want to turn it into a political issue so that they can silence all those who don't applaud them for their filthy lifestyle and reprobate choices, and who refuse to wave rainbow flags with them in their immoral parades. All Christians, ministers and Bible-believers of any political persuasion, or even of no political persuasion, have the absolute responsibility to agree with God and to say what God says about homosexuality or any other matter.
If we allow the gays to persecute us, and silence our right to agree with God on this moral issue, it will be just a short step till the bestiality people soon follow suit, along with the whores, prostitutes, and all the rest of the sex addict criminals. They will all claim that their favorite form of sexual perversion is protected by the constitution and that they are being discriminated against. We must stand up for exactly what the Bible says about any and all sins, and that includes the sin of homosexuality, adultery, fornication, bestiality, prostitution or any other thing that is contrary to God.
We should not care the least about how these people defile themselves and relentlessly pursue their passionate love for all things that are against God. The reprobate have always hated God. But what we should be very concerned about is when they try to force anyone to agree with their hatred for what God says is righteous. God is the creator of sex and the sexes, and He is the definer of what is right and what is wrong. When they try to limit our right to follow God's system and limit our right to speak about the Bible teaches, then we have big problems and are moral fighting ground. We do not give one hoot about how vile they want to be with their other consenting adult vile pigs. That is their choice. But when they start telling us that we cannot say what God says and run our businesses the way that Christians should. They have overstepped their rights and impinged on ours.
2. The principles of free speech and the right of private companies to run their businesses anyway they choose providing they are not breaking the law.
I am saying that this is a non-political issue and is instead a moral issue, because the freedom of speech, and the freedom of enterprise in the American system, was long ago settled and established by law within the framework of our Constitution. In America the Constitution also guarantees our freedom of religion. The gays have no right to silence Cathy or any other business owner because he voices His religious opinion, and chooses to run his business based on Christian principles. Our stance that homosexuality is wrong lifestyle is a moral stance based on our religion. It is not an attack on their right to practice their religion of sexual lust and perversion. They have the right to worship phallic symbols and sexual demons. Their right to worship penises and vaginas is protected under the freedom of religion. If lust is their god, they have the right to worship him all they want. But if God is our God, we not only have the right to worship Him, but we have commands which obligate us to say what He says with our lips. He designed our mouths to honor Him, and to reiterate every word of truth that He has spoken.
Immediately upon hearing of Cathy's statement about his Christian values, the Mayor of Boston Thomas M Menino in my homosexual loving state of Massachusetts sided with the LGBT crowd and issued a hateful statement that He would never allow Chic-Fill-A to open a restaurant in Boston. He sent a letter to Chic-Fil-A stating "When Massachusetts became the first state in the country to recognize equal marriage rights, I personally stood on City Hall Plaza to greet same-sex couples coming here to be married," he added. "It would be an insult to them and to our city's long history of expanding freedom to have a Chick-fil-A across the street from that spot." His position was that he would not allow a Chic-Fil-A store to open in His city. He said, "If they need licenses in the city, it will be very difficult." After considering the issue and probably after talking with his attorneys -- Menino acknowledged he did not have the actual power to block the chain from operating in Boston.
The First Amendment protects you from government action suppressing your right to free speech, but it does not protect you from someone's right to disagree or criticize what you say. So they do have the right to disagree with us, but we also have the right to use any kind of words which express our firm beliefs in the moral statements of the Bible. We have the right to condemn them verbally, to reprove their hatred of God and their relentless pursuit of godless perversion. That is our right.
I say Aye to Chic-Fil-A. And hopefully you as a Christian will support the moral issues God has clearly established in His word and recognize that this is not about culture or politics, left wing or right wing, this is about God and His right to speak in His Bible and through His children.
