Hurricane Sandy has left a trail of looting amidst all the devastation in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and other Northeastern states.  We all know that the Bible plainly says "Thou shalt not steal".  It's one of the ten commandments.  But is it the final word on what God thinks about looting in a time of crisis or disaster?  This interesting study might be a real eye-opener to some readers.

Peaceful non-violence and gun control

Homosexuality

This is a short exposition of Romans 1: 18-32.  It is not an exhaustive study,  It is meant to be suggestive. As a "marriage" minister, it explains one reason why I do not perform same sex marriages.  This is not meant in any way to endorse homophobia, or to sanction false notions that we are not to love gays and try to reach them with the gospel as fellow human beings who have the exact same sort of needs as straight people.  Sin is sin, and there is no such thing as a "straight" sin or a "gay" sin. We are all "sinners" just the same.  But we are not all "reprobates". This study deals with that concept as well as the question: Is homosexuality "genetic" or "spiritual"?

Gender is an assignment By God.  Jennifer, the author of this article, seeks to establish the important Biblical role that gender specific truth plays in God plan for both sexes.  She does an excellent job of balancing Biblical truth with feminine and masculine patterns for worshiping God.  Both sexes are designed to fulfill God's plan by obedience to His Lordship and Sovereign design.  This is a beautiful post, and there are others like it on Jennifer's site

A close look at the gender passages of the New Testament

Hermeneutic Fallacies Critiqued.  First published in the Westminster Theological Journal in 1994, but is very pertinent to the current discussion of the gender specific language of the Bible. As you are probably aware, the trend toward making God into  " she", has progressed quite far in our day.  Dynamic Equivalence Translations are notorious for this, and for removing distinctions between male and female terminology.  This is one reason for rejecting most dynamic Equivalence translations.  If you are unsure about these serious issues which undermine the authority of Scripture then you should study this excellent journal article.

Does Christianity Squash Women

This is a very professionally written article about women by a woman.  When a man expresses the Biblical concepts taught so beautifully in this article, he is usually condemned as a chauvinist, who don't know the first thing about womanhood, or who don't really care about women.   Fortunately the Bible exalts women and describes true womanhood in terms of a covenant relationship with God.   This concept raises women from the puritanical image of female servitude to men, and sets all women on the highest and most noble of footings.  Great article.
