Don't Ask Me To Pray For Your Bad Cholesterol!

I received a prayer request from a fellow minister today. He seemed more than a little distraught when He asked me to pray for his bad cholesterol. In fact he was extremely concerned about it, and He thinks I should be concerned also. Now I love to pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ, and I do always pray for them, when I receive prayer requests. But I do not always pray according to their prayer requests, because I find what they want to be insulting to God. Too many Christians pray out of unbelief and doubt, rather than pray as a Christian should pray, “Thanking God for all things” (1Thessalonians 5:18).

If you are going to pray in the will of God, then you have to pray as God instructs you to pray. “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thess. 5: 18). So here is what I told my dear friend in Christ, a fellow minister of the gospel who asked me to pray for His bad cholesterol. Please read this short reply and consider yourself, how you pray? I think you might find this instructive. I hope so.

I received your prayer request asking me to pray for your bad cholesterol, and I certainly will pray for you, but I will not agree with your faithless expressions of doubt concerning God. Shame on you.
There is no such thing as bad cholesterol, or anything else that comes from God, because God makes everything that is in your blood, and everything that God makes is good. "All things work together for good to them that Love God" (Romans 8:28). You are not supposed to listen to doctors. You are supposed to trust the Lord in all things, and at all times. Even if God does send something bad to you, it is so that you will learn to trust Him and Him alone, always and in all things. "Be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Hebrews13:5). "I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content" (Phil. 4:11).

Do you not think that your heavenly Father knows what He is doing to you? Do you doubt that your life is in the palm of His hand? If your life is in your blood, as the Bible says (Leviticus 17:11); do you not know that: "your life is hid with God in Christ" (Colossians 3:3)?

When you tell me that you have bad cholesterol, you are telling me that you do not trust in God. You should not do that. You should not think like the people who have no hope in the world. You know better than that. God cares for you. God loves you. And even if you get cholesterol, cancer, brain tumors, heart attack, or even if you die; God still loves you and is working out His most perfect plan in your life. Please learn how to adjust your thinking to match what God says.

I will pray for you dear Brother ______, as I have done many times in the past. But I will not pray that God removes cholesterol from you, because God sent it to you for a reason. Instead I will pray that God continues to teach you to to trust Him without doubts and fears like the world has. You are different _______, because you have the Holy Spirit in You. Your body is His temple. He knows what He wants to do with His own temple. You should never question Him about what He is doing. He is your Lord, you are not His. You must trust Him. Period. There is no excuse for any Christian to ever doubt God. He never leaves you, or forsakes you (Hebrews 13:5). So don't act or think like the forsaken, or the alone.

Your problem is not cholesterol! Your problem is unbelief! You need to ask God to fix that (Mark 9:24). That is what I will also pray about for you, because I love you in Christ, and I do not want to see you acting and thinking just like the unbelievers.
