Pet Sayings Exposed and Exploded " God Needs You"
By David Heesen
This is a direct quote from a sign on the wall of a Sunday School room.
Don’t believe every sign you see hanging on Sunday School walls.
“God can and will do whatever He pleases, regardless of what you think, pray, or do. God can and will do whatever He pleases. He does not need you, as A.W. Tozer put it.”—Robert Piercy, Drivetime Chat Episode 24 (youtube).
“I serve a God who has no needs. I serve a God who is completely and utterly self sufficient.”—Voddie Baucham, “Southern Baptists at Sardis” Founders Breakfast. (http://www.sermonaudio.com/playpopup.asp?SID=51709232753)
One Bible quote is worth a thousand “men quotes”: Acts 17:24-25—”God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things ...” [emphasis mine] The implication is that God doesn’t need anything.
